From Kath & Gareth Griffiths,
North Wales, UK
30 Jun 2005 - "We have recently returned from
another very enjoyable holiday on the island of Thassos. The scenery
is marvellous and the people of Thassos continue to be so welcoming.
The one fly in the ointment‚ is the appalling attitude of
the British tour operators to our wonderful hosts.
Over recent years the Thassian hotel owners have had to put up with
payments being made a season in arrears and late block withdrawals
but now our operators seem to want to push as many of us as possible
into larger hotels out in the sticks‚ on all inclusive‚
or half-board‚ packages.
The charm of Thassos is the warm welcome offered by the many small
family businesses on the island and it is the reason why so many
British folk, having found this gem, continue to return year after
year. The new British visitors will not sample true Thassian hospitality
in the new larger properties and the traditional Greek tavernas
in the towns and villages are being starved of customers.
The options for making one‚s own travel arrangements are limited
and therefore would add to the cost of such a holiday.
As you can see we feel very strongly about the treatment of our
friends in Thassos. Does anyone agree with us?"
From Claire, Mal, Betty & Dave, North Wales,
UK
25 Jun 2005 - "We visited Thassos for the
first time, between 8 - 22 June. It hopefully wont be our last visit
there!. We are already planning on going back next year, to see
the rest of the island. We didnt manage to drive all the way round,
although it takes less than one hour to drive from Thassos Town
where we were based to Alyki at the southern end!
The island is gorgeous, with its crystal clear waters, almost deserted
beaches and interesting history.
The trip over to Thassos is part of the holiday, as you arrive at
Kavala and are taken to the ferry at Keramotti. The ferry over is
great and takes about 40 minutes. The seagulls follow the ferry
all the way over, hoping to be fed by the passengers! As we stayed
at Thassos Town, our bus trip to our appartments took 5 minutes.
We stayed at Nikoletta, at the far end of Thassos Town. These apartments
are set in beautiful surroundings/gardens with so much colour you
dont feel like you are in Greece at all! Although it looks as if
the whole island displays colourful flowers which makes it so pretty.
The owner of Nikoletta takes so much care of her gardens and it
shows when you see them. We visit Greece every year and havent stayed
in as nice a place as Nikoletta. The rooms are cleaned every day
and towels and bed sheets changed every 3 days. The staff are very
friendly also. The walk or stroll into town took us about 15 minutes.
We walked along the shore, which was nicer than walking along the
road and often cooler.
A couple of nice beaches are close to Nikoletta - Tarsanas and Nisteri.
Both are a bit shingly but once you are in the water, there is sand
below your feet.
Moysees taverna (near the new harbour)is very atmospheric and as
it is based on the shore you can watch the red and purple sun sets
from here. Another taverna we would recommend is Posidonas. This
is based on the main road as you are going into town from Nikoletta.
Very friendly staff, very clean and the food is wonderful.
Thassos Town was gorgeous, both by day and night. Its bustling but
not too much.
There are so many tavernas to choose from. Some of our favourites
were - Symi's on the front next to the old harbour, Syrtaki's, near
the towns beach, Twins, in the back streets (well almost) and Zorbas
(they had Greek music and dancing by the staff).
The ancient ruins throughout the town are very easy to access and
should not be missed. The walk up to the acroplolis is very steep,
take some water with you but its worth it, the views are amazing.
The ampitheatre isnt accessible at present as there is construction
work being carried out but you can view it through a fence. All
ancient sites are signed. A visit to the museum is worth it too
- it is free and the video on Thassos is really interesting.
Try to rent out a car. We had one for 3 days only but visited Panagia
- mountain village about 15 minutes from Thassos Town. Very quaint
with the natural spring running through it. Skala Potamia and its
village is worth seeing. Golden Beach was exceptional. I felt like
I was in the Caribbean. Very goog tavernas there too. We also visted
Alyki. Again, this has archeological sites and torquoise waters.
There is one thing about Thassos which has a downside. There seem
to be quite a number of new buildings going up, on the outskirts
of Thassos Town. Hopefully, this wont spoil Thassos' traditional
atmosphere too much. If you are planning on going there this year
- you have a treat to look forward to, I certainly didnt want to
come home!"
From sandy and bill blackmore, Kent, uk
23 Jun 2005 - "Tasos restaurant in Skala
Potamia is an excellent place for a meal. the food is fantastic
and Yannis is great. Disappointed that it didnt open until our
last couple of nights of our hols in May."
From Mike O'Shaughnessy, West Yorkshire, England
20 Jun 2005 - "Just like to recommend Taso's
restaurant/taverna in Skala Potamia, it's well worth a visit.
Excellent food and a very friendly host in Yannis."
From MRS MARGARET DRAKE, EAST YORKSHIRE , UK
18 Jun 2005 - "Having visited Thassos town
for the last 8 years running, I have come to the conclusion that
the place to eat in the town is the Toxotis taverna, its tucked
away in the back streets, spottlessly clean, with not the prettiest
view in Thassos (but the superb food more than makes up for that)
and reasonably priced compared with other restaurants in the town.
If you go to the town a visit here is a must."
From Julie & Andrew Cadman, Stoke on Trent,
England
16 Jun 2005 - "We are visiting beautiful
Thassos for the 4th time in July. Nefeli Studios is definately
the best place to stay - clean, not far from the local Tavernas,
etc. and right near the beach.
The only downside is the wasps!! The answer - stay highly intoxicated,
you really won't notice them!!"
From Brenda and David Carroll, Merseyside, UK
15 Jun 2005 - "We can recommend Rumours Cafe
Bar in Thassos Town to start or round off an excellent evening.
They served the biggest 5* Metaxas we had on the island and if you
want a bit of fun they also do the occassional "Quiz".
We'd also recommend Mousses Taverna. The atmosphere's great, the
food is tasty, plentiful and a great price. If you want a change
from a Greek Salad, then try their Rocket Salad. Their Creme Caramel
isn't bad either! Better still you get it for free!!"
From JEAN LOVELL, WEST SUSSEX, UK
15 Jun 2005 - "New bar inbetween Scala Potamia
and Golden Beach was called Sun and Moon (don't be put off by that)
is now called the Aegean now under new management (Iain & Ann)
Excellent breakfasts nice lunches wonderful views and you can expect
the warmest welcome in the whole of the island. Please note a GREEK
bar that is run by an english couple.
Car rental, still the best service and price is POTOS Pauline will
help you all see can if you are new to the island. Speedy looks
sometimes cheaper but BEWARE hidden charges or insuffient ins. contract
ECT."
From sandy, kent, UK
07 Jun 2005 - "Cafe bar Rumours in the back
streets of Thassos Town near the harbour fantastic breakfast ,
pleasant owners."
From julie & mike airey, isle of wight,
England
07 Jun 2005 - "We have just come back from
our 6th stay in Skala Potamias, luckily the dodgems weren't there
this year, a bit of an eyesore usually. To our disappointment Nautlius
has changed hands and there were quite a few tavernas not open yet
due to the fact that there were less tourists this year. Had a relaxing
time, as usual. Looking forward to next year already. Sandy &
Bill: We got our excess baggage home!!"
From Dave & Vikki Peyton, South Staffordshire,
England
04 Jun 2005 - "If you are in Skala Potamia
go for a meal at the Karambousa taverna. You are sure to be made
very welcome and the choice of traditional greek cuisine is excellent.
If you want a heated pool go to Eric's.You will be assured of the
friendliest of welcomes from Eric &Christina."
From gerry, UK
03 Jun 2005 - "Cafe bar Rumours in Thassos
town does an excellent English breakfast(English sausage &
bacon) It also has a lovely light lunch menu & the bar has
a very friendly atmosphere!"
From sandy blackmore, Kent, UK
31 May 2005 - "Just returned from our second
stay in Skala Potamia in 8mths.More beautiful than before, Hardly
any wasps or midgies. Stayes in Nefeli Studios exceptionall clean
right bang on the beach. Only down side owners son, who insisted
on playing his music really loud when his parents went out."
From Richard Thomas, Worcester, England
25 May 2005 - "We visited Thassos this May
(15-22.2005) a good time to visit. No wasps! plus the flowers and
paintwork are all fresh. We stayed at the Alexandra hotel and spa
in Potos. The Hotel was very clean, the food was excellent and the
room was always cleaned and fresh toweles each day. However if you
have booked or expecting a sea view or masonette then you will be
dissapointed as they have none even though they advertise both.
There are NO masonettes in this Hotel complex although if you are
prepared to battle with the reception personnel and manager, you
may be lucky enough to be given a 'bungalow' which do have sea views.
There is NO entertainment in the Hotel, not even a Greek dancer!!
so therefore be prepared to have an exceptionally peaceful holiday.
Potos is just a short walk away where you will find a selection
of friendly Taverna's and a couple of supermarkets but after a week
even these begin to get a bit boring. A car is a must if you want
to see the Island,Argus car hire are good, book before you go for
the best rate. They are in fact Europcar and they deliver and collect
from the Hotel.Paradise beach is good, beware the left of the beach
(looking at the sea) is Nudest!. Golden Sands Beach is also good
and by far the biggest sandy beach on the Island the others are
mainly a mix of Sand and stone. Although we enjoyed the weather,
6 out of 7 days brillient sunshine, can't say we will rush back,
there are many more places in the world to visit yet."
From geraldine, barnsley, England
24 May 2005 - "Fotini is 2 doors away from
Vera Lili & looks lovely. Mark & Nina relocated to Australia
in 2002 for the childrens schooling. I am in touch & they are
fine. Vassoo & Mike still have Anonymous & Full Moonm though.
Try Vournelis swimming pool on wat to Tarsanas on beach road. Bliss"
From Jody Perry, UK
20 May 2005 - "Going back to beautiful Thassos
this August for, I think, the 15th time! Stayed in several places
in Thassos Town, last time being Vera Lilli. Going to a new place
this year, Fotini Studios - any comments? If your're going this
year - try and pop in to the Full Moon Bar and there you are guaranteed
a friendly welcome from Mark and Nina! Also, you must have a laid
back drink at Remezou Bar on the sea front."
From Laura Ibrahim-kori, Sittingbourne, England
17 May 2005 - "Me and my boyfriend have just
come back from 2 weeks in Thassos. It was mazing as neither of us
had been before and we didnt know what to expect. It was so different
from where we had been before and we will certainly be coming back.
We stayed on Golden Beach in the Studios Filipidis. We was right
on the top floor with sea view from the balcony. We had the best
time ever. All the local people were friendly, and the food was
great. We even had a few cocktails in the Golden Sands. The staff
there were great. It was very good value for money and we will certainly
be telling other people about our visit and that they should visit."

From Sue, Lancashire, UK
16 May 2005 - "Just come back from my third
visit to Thassos, its such a lovely place, beautiful scenery.
Stayed at the Louloudis in Skala Rachoni which was excellent,
family run, very friendly. Best places to eat are El Greco in
Thassos town which has just opened this season, it's a must to
visit, brilliant food. Also Simis near the harbour, good Greek
food. People in Thassos are all very friendly, nothing is too
much trouble for them."
From Megan, Cheshire, UK
15 May 2005 - "Just returned from Thassos
and it's truly beautiful. Would definately go again, except for
the fact that the poor chained-up dogs on the island need alot of
help and it made me very sad. There's the Gingerbread Sanctuary
in Skala Rachoni, run by Suzanne, if anyone reading this would like
to pay the animals there a visit. Also, I feel compelled to tell
anyone thinking of staying at the Louloudis Hotel & Apartments
in Skala Rachoni to avoid Room 105 at all costs (booked through
Thomas Cook). The room is more like an annex to Reception, affords
no privacy, is smaller than the rest, and is not ideal for a holiday
at all. The owners are very nice, and if you can another room then
your stay there should be very relaxing, but just beware of the
broom cupboard which is Room 105.
From Sarah Kendle, Berkshire, UK
19 Apr 2005 - "Hi. We visited Scala Potamia
in 2002 and fell in love with the place! We are going back for another
fix in August and are...'gulp'...going it alone! We will be staying
at the lovely Villa Amalia again, having booked directly with the
owner this time and are flying with Thomas Cook which was the cheapest
I could find (and I really looked!). Haven't quite sorted out the
middle bit of the journey ie taxi, ferry, taxi, but Im sure it wont
be too much hassle (although with a 5 & 2 year old could be
interesting! Well we are really looking forward to visiting again
- will let you know how it goes!!"
From Soren Fischer, Denmark
16 Apr 2005 - "Do you know, that you can
go to camping Daidalos in Skala Sotiros, and rent a tent fully
equipt for small money? Then you stay 100 m from the sea on a
very nice campsite, very quiet and good facilities, and a nice
family who runs the place, whithomemade food in the reasaurant.

From Carl &jenny mumby, LIncolnshire, England

for lovely breakfasts.Nefeli and souzana for places to stay.Potos
car hire in scala for very good service. Please don't be put off
to go independantly as it is really easy and maybe not as expensive
as you think. HAPPY HOLIDAYS see you in june 2005."
From Bob & Maria, Oldham, England
08 Feb 2005 - "We have been to thassos twice, and
we are hopefully going back in 2006. We have stayed both times at
the Aberdeen apartments in thassos town. We cannot speak highly
enough about Thassos. The Island is lovely and the people are really
friendly. Thassos Town is a 15 min stroll from the apartments, and
once there,it has plenty of tavernas and enough bars, but not to
many, so no idiots. I can't recommend any particular taverna because
we have never had a bad meal anywhere. But what really made our
holiday was the Aberdeen apatments, Its impossible not to have a
great time there, we will go back there everytime. The owners are
Carol & Vassili, who make your stay unforgetable, but the place
would not be the same without Zoi, who cannot do enough for you
and who we still keep in touch with. All in all probably the best
holidays we have had."
From Sandra & Owen Downs, Aberdeen, Scotland
23 Jan 2005 - "ASTERIA TAVERNA, Brilliant,
excellent Food & Brilliant Value. I first visited this Taverna
on my first holiday (I've now visited Thassos 13 times), and always
make a point of visiting many times whilst in Thassos as the welcome
your receive from the owners Kostas & Babe and their head waiter
Angelos is second to none, you are make to feel so special with
their warm welcome.
Whilst in Thassos you must also ensure that you visit LEATHERLANE
for all your excellent quyality leather goods to take home. You
will no doubt meet Val (An Irishman who has now been in Thassos
for about 30 years) and his dear lady Bea. Excellent leather goods
at a good price.
Happy holidaying, hope to see you there June 2005, for our 14th
visit."
From Sandy and Bill Blackmore, kent, uk
19 Jan 2005 - "Stayed in Skala Potamias last
week in September. Wow it was fantastic. so chilled out. Food was
excellent, car hire a bargain. 18euros and cost us all of 3 euros
to top it up. We are going back last two weeks in May2005, we 've
never been to the same place twice, but i so enjoyed the whole experience.
can't wait. The whole island is breathtaking. The people ars so friendly
and the food !,well i cant wait for my peppercorn steak. The drinks
not bad either!."
From Dave Scunthorpe, England
19 Jan 2005 - "just booked my 2005 holiday
to thassos going to limenaria this will be our 5th holiday we
were very shocked to find only 2 hotels for the resort and that
they were getting booked up very fast. over recent years we have
been hearing stories of uk tour operators pulling out of the island
i hope that i can still go in the future as it is a second home
to me and i have made many friends out there."
From Emma Banks, England
17 Jan 2005 - "The Boomerang Bar has to be
one of the most chilled out, welcoming bar I've ever been to whilst
on holiday. The guys there make you feel soooo welcome and nothing
is too much trouble for them. Well worth a visit time and time again."
From stuart loftus, hampshire, England
16 Jan 2005 - "My wife and I stayed at the
Socrates hotel at Skala Prinou in 2004. It was our first visit
to the islands and the people at the hotel were more than helpful.
The hotel itself was more than we expected and we had a really
great time. We intend going back in 2005 with friends!"
From Alison, Oxford, England
20 Dec 2004 - "This year for something different
I thought I would try a different holiday destination... The choice
that I made was Thassos Island and it was clearly the best choice
I could have made! I stayed in the Pegasus Hotel in Thassos town
which was just lovely - from the staff, to the room quality and
also the food in restaurant Apollo, which is located at the back
of the hotel - everything seemed to fit perfectly together to make
for a wonderful holiday! I especially enjoyed relaxing at the pool
bar.
The entire island is just stunning and the people there seem to
radiate this unbelievable warmth that would make just about anyone
feel welcome. Along with the Pegasus I also liked Zorbas- live taverna
to a great degree. With it's live music and dancing it gaurantees
a fun-filled, traditional greek night out! and the staff are just
lovely there too. All in all I rate Thassos up there with the best
and will definitely be going back there for many years to come!"
From The Tuck family, Lancashire, England
14 Dec 2004 - "My parents have been coming
to Limenaria for 10 years and after spending our summer hols there
(2004) we can now understand why!! expecially eating at Dionissos
restaurant as Yanni and Emi are wondeful people - the food is
traditionally greek and the most relaxed feel -a wonderful time
had by all and yes - booked for next year"
From Magdalena, Poland
18 Oct 2004 - "This summer holidays I spent
on Thassos. I didn't chose that island by accident. I was there
3 years ago with my sister. I spent wonderful two weeks, which I
will never forget. This year I came back to the same place, to the
same hotel. And again - I'm not dissapointed. The Pegasus Hotel
is the best place to stay, not only because great location but also
because of the nice atmosphere there. I felt there like between
friends. From the early morning at the breakfast, where the nice
stuff welomes you with a smile till the late hours in the bar downstairs,
where you culd listen to the music and talk to other guests from
different countries. Unforgettable evenings...
What is worth saying is the cleaness in the rooms, which are cleand
everyday. The space in the room is also very important. You can
feel comfortable inside.
I left the best for the end - after I saw the atmosphere of the
city and city night life I was concentrated on spending most of
my spare time outside, going to different tavernas but went out
maybe few times. The rest of my lunches and dinners I spent in the
hotel... The food is delicious in the Apollo Restaurant. Great greek
dishes are the basic but the Chef can suprise you with incredible
kinds of Vindallo Chicken Filet or Asparagus salad.... I suggest
you trying this. What make that dinner more special is the atmosphere
of the restaurant. Located at the back of the Pegsus Hotel, next
to the swimming poll with beautiful, romantic atmosphere.
I'll come back there next year - definatelly. Greetings to the owner
and the rest of the staff."
From Aileen George, Staffordshire, England
15 Oct 2004 - "Visited Thassos for the first
time in late September,we were the last guests this year at The
Galaxy hotel in Thassos town, the hotel was excellent immaculately
kept with good breakfast and lovely pool. We are lovers of Greece
and have visited many of the islands over the years, some of them
several times. We hired a car 60euros for 3days (not through the
rep!) and travelled all over the island , it was wonderful. We thoroughly
reccomend Thassos."
From Helen & Neale, Hertfordshire, England
15 Oct 2004 - "My boyfriend and I visited
Thassos for the first time from 1st -15th September this year,
We stayed at the Aliston Studios in Scala Potamia, which were
lovely, very clean and in a great location and the owner Thananis,
was a brilliant host who made us feel very welcome and gave us
invaluable tips of places to visit. I would definately recommend
that you hire a car as there is so many lovely places to see on
the island, our favourite place was Aliki, although scala potamia
is in our opinion the best all round resort to stay in as the
beach is nice, the sea is shallow and warm and there are plenty
of restaurants to choose from. Our favorite restaurants were nautilos
and theagenis, although all the restaurants we ate in were of
the same high standard and the food delicious(we are both on a
diet now!!!) We went with Golden Sun and were very sad to hear
that they folded soon after we got home, as we couldnt fault them
for the service we received, hopefully another tour operator will
now step in as we are very much looking forward to returning one
day - we would definately recommend Thassos to anyone looking
for a relaxing holiday and can honestly say it was the best holiday
that we have ever"
From Sam Cockings, Gloucestershire, England
13 Oct 2004 - "I have just returned from a
fantastic trip to Thassos and wanted to tell everyone how wonderful
it was. My boyfriend and I visited the island after we were told
that it was the equivalent of a Caribbean island without the palm
trees! It certainly is one of Europe's great treasures and I hope
that it stays this way and does not get too commercialised. We stayed
at Skala Potamia in the Susie Studios. The accomodation was fantastic,
clean towels and bed linen everyday and our appartment had fantastic
views if the sea and mountains. We went on a tour around Thassos
town which I definietly recommend as you get to see parts of the
town which are not open to the public such as the original gateway
and old wall surrounding the town.
One of the best tips I can give is hire a moped or car! We travelled
all around the island on a motorbike and it was a great way to see
all of the other resorts on the island. Also, there are plenty of
lay bys where you can stop and take pictures of the scenery.
We had fantastic food whilst in Thassos. Our favourite restaurant
was near to the harbour end of Potamia and was named Aphrodite.
If you want great service, 3 courses including drinks for about
20 Euros then head there. We were given tradiotional greek syrup
pudding for desert and it was worth a visit just for that. The locals
were very welcoming and friendly, particularly the waiters and shop
keepers along the waterfront. We will be going back next year!
And for all those people in their early twenties who are not sure
about going, then take my word for it, you'll find plenty to keep
you occupied. Great for a relaxing and indulgent holiday."
From lynn stone, leicestershire, England
11 Oct 2004 - "Just back from our second visit
to Thassos it will not be the last - is there anyway that we can
ensure that the type of person who normally goes to Minorca etc
who feels that every apartment should be same size same decor and
that holidays come to them and who do not have a spirit of adventure
and who feel that they should not have to see lorry loads of marble
trundling down to the harbour be put back onto the plane when they
get to Kavala.
Booked through Kosmar - great organisation and thanks to Gordon
in resort - he lives there so knows everything
Staying at the Aberdeen apartments in Thassos Town - here is the
thing when you book a holiday that says Thassos Town the clue is
in the name - you are in a town it is not going to be like a quiet
little beach holiday, people live and work in Thassos Town and it
may be noisy..... The apartments were clean and well looked after
with air con and double glazing, some of the units on the front
of the site were subject to traffic noise but not at an unacceptable
level, pool and bar first rate and with only 11 apartments most
of the time had the pool to ourselves.
Tues night is band practice night, Carols husband Vasilli is in
a band and they are very good, they all get together on Tues night
for practice - added bonus when booking here.
On the question of food, Toxotis - very good and do not often get
a mention, the best battered squid all holiday.
Mouses of course - great were there for the last night of the season
fantastic atmosphere, but would someone please tell chef that we
do not use as much salt in our cooking anymore. Prices were great
also, much better than the town prices and why doesn't anyone speak
up about the great street food, Gyros and Diropida - cheese pie
fantastic value for money. Also pop into Petrinos the little girl
that serves here is great fun and the ouzos are huge."
From Stuart Rose, Berkshire, UK
07 Oct 2004 - "My wife and I have just come
back fom a wonderful holiday to Thassos. We both read a few bad
comments before we went but when we were there we thought that
those people must have been in a different place!!! We loved it!
We stayed in Thassos Town in the Hotel Galaxy which was very clean
and had good breakfasts! We ate at Simi's three times as we loved
it so much (especially the cats that liked to jump up on the seats
next to us) and Zorba's Live was good too for a traditonal Greek
night out. We also spent a few days lying on the beach in the
town at a place called Islands. We used their sunbeds and enjoyed
good cheap beer there too! We ventured onto the bus one day and
took a trip all around the island. You could just jump on and
off anywhere and it meant that we got to see some beautiful places
like Panagia and Alyki. One day we went onto the mainland and
visited Phillipi, which was a real experience. We really enjoyed
ourselves and would recommend Thassos to anyone who wanted to
try a Greek island."
From Joanna Lutkin, Cambrigeshire, UK
07 Oct 2004 - "My partner and I have just
returned from our second holiday in two years to Thassos and again,
had an excellent time. We stayed both years in Skala Potamias, this
time at the Semili Studios with Thompson. The studio was extremely
clean and well looked after - our room was the only one with a private
balcony facing the sea which we were delighted with! The kitchen
stocked the basics you would expect from a Greek self catering studio,
and anything else you needed you could easily buy in the local shops.
The bathroom actually had a shower curtain which was a first in
Greece for me! The studio was in a great loacation, on the doorstep
to the beach, all the restaurants and shops. The Skala Potamias
resort was slightly disappointing at this time of year, due to the
end of season as quite a few places were already closed and it didn't
quite have the same magic it did last August. CJ's, run by an English
lady, do great toasted sandwiches and snacks and most of the restaurants
on the beach front serve traditional greek dishes as well as pasta
and pizzas. Erics Bar on the main road through Skala Potamias is
a must see - the owner has built his whole business around the fact
he looks like Eric Cantonna - and he really does! He is a lovely
man and works so hard, and has very impressive studios apparently.
We had a scooter for the whole week so we could explore the whole
island easily. Potos is great for shopping and has a more cosmopolitan
feel than the other resorts, Thassos town is also great for shopping
for all the greek knick knacks and has so many nice bars and restaurants
you are spoilt for choice! The nicest beach on the island has to
be paradise beach, although it is a steep walk back up, you have
been warned! The waves can be massive, which was great fun and also
the beach can be quite secluded at this time of year. There is a
small restaurant there which is home to about 50 cats - they are
really friendly and sweet, not like your normal restaurant strays
- they actually all belong to the owner! The food there is great
as well, and as normal, there is a massive menu. Our favourite restaurant
in Thassos is the Fedra at Golden Beach, the menu is huge and the
food is just brilliant - by far the best greek food I've ever tasted.
The staff are so nice and friendly as well, and make you really
welcome. The weather was great for the end of September/early October,
had some lovely sun but the evenings were cold so be warned - you
will need a jacket! All in all, a fantastic holiday - I would definately
recommend Thassos, it is a great place for families, young and older
couples."

06 Oct 2004 - "Just spent a wonderful week
in Scala Potamia at the Susie Studios. Clean and well kept accomodation.
Our favourite meals were eaten at the Theagenis, but would also
recommend Tassos next door. Hoping to book for two weeks in June
next year at the Kamelia, but as yet cannot find any recommendations
on the internet."
