23 Aug 2005 - "Sorry!! Didnt mean to upset
anyone, I was not suggesting that Julie or others WANTED a Falaraki
or similar, just meerly frieghtened that it would become too popular, with
the unsavoury Brits we sadly have.
Crime rate is 0 Armed robbery unheard of. PLEASE PLEASE lets keep
it that way. I agree we may need an inexpensive way of getting there
under our own steam, but tread carefuly or the place wont be the
same.
I hope we ALL can enjoy Thassos for many years to come and support
our Thassian friends we all seem to have.
I wanted to go next week, but guess what: I cannot get a Flight,
judgement on me hey!!!!
Happy Holidays to you all whenever you may go!!!"
From christine dixon, cleveland, england.
22 Aug 2005 - "I and my partner have just
returned from a week in Thassos, staying at the hotel Galaxy in
Thassos town. It was my first visit to Thassos but like so many
others who return year after year, it will not be my last. The hotel
Galaxy run by Yanis and Poppy was spotless and very friendly.
So many wonderful places to eat, but would highly recommend Pigis
and Twins and the Island Bar on the beach for its cocktails and
setting.
Wish I could go back tomorrow. The only holiday that I truly did
not want to return from."
From Katy, Laura, Becky and Charlotte, Northants,
England.
22 Aug 2005 - "we have just returned from
our holiday, and it woz amazing. we made some great mates (sony,
nikos, armando, tolis, george, nikita and angel) and we miss them
loads :( thanks to sue, from the mediteranian in skala rachoni (were
trying to convince our parents to let us come back next year)
can you please say a big hello to the restaurant and shop gekas
and also olgas for making us feel so welcome. i would seriously
recomend coming to skala rachoni and staying in the mediteranian
as this is one holiday you will not forget.
thanks again
love Katy, Laura, Becky and Charlotte x"

22 Aug 2005 - " I fully endorse Stuart Millers
comments, it is possible to arrange your own travel and accommodation.
However, there are no budget flights to Athens from the North
of England. It would necessitate an internal flight to Stansted,
which would probably require accommodation overnight, adding heavy
costs to the trip. The return journey could also possibly need
similar arrangements, this is why we are hoping to generate some
interest from other airlines."
From Stuart Miller, Kent, U.K.
22 Aug 2005 - "Olympic Airways fly from
Athens to Kavala twice daily. The cost is 135 euros per person
return (including taxes)."
From julie flaherty, leicestershire, england.
21 Aug 2005 - "in reply to my wanting to turn
Thassos into Faliraki thats nonsense i wouldnt want that for the
world, all im proposing is that people like me (and i hope there
are many), can continue to afford to go to Thassos!and as for me
going to Corfu because its affordable no thanks been there!
What many tourists dont understand is the fact that these people
in tavernas and hotels have a very short time to make their money
to last them over the winter time, theres no family allowance, social
security or help with school fees or university fees! We have a
very good friend in Skala Potamia who runs Tassos taverna he rents
it for 5 months of the year moving his family from Kalirachi into
1 room at the back of the taverna in the hope he can make enough
money to last them through the winter months, Elka cooks and they
have a 5 year old little boy called Thoma (who is adorable). They
work from early morning until early in the morning! as is the greek
way, in the winter to top up their income Yannis fishes and tends
the olives at their village in Kalirachi. When we go for the two
weeks we semi adopt Thoma and in return (altho we protest) Yannis
will not accept a cent for meals or drinks and sends us home with
wine, his life and that of many others is set on the tourist trade
and yes im sticking up for him and others like him who see us (tourists)
being priced off the island with little choice of tour companys.
I agree that Thassos is the jewel in the crown in the agean and
shhhhhhhh, dont tell anyone but surley this will have a detrimental
effect on those who earn their living from us and denies us the
choice of whether we want the upmarket hotels or the traditional
apartments.
Im considering taking our tent next year and just paying for flights
and staying at Golden Beach campsite, but even the flights are expensive,
i just hope that by "suggesting" to nexusairways and the
likes of jet2.com it stirs up interest in the island as a whole
and there are people that would go to Thassos by whatever means
possible.
So please dont take offence we all have a right to free speech,
its just some of us dont speak loud enough! well i have found my
voice and hope im listened to, and i love Thassos, my families 2nd
home."
From Stuart Miller, Kent, U.K.
20 Aug 2005 - "Thassos needn't become a package
tour destination on the scale of dome of the resorts mentioned in
Jenny & Gary Cooper's mail. The main issue seems to be one of
cost, so I've a couple of ideas.
First, flights. Easijet fly to Athens every day of the week. If
you book well in advance the flight costs are reasonable. Olympic
airways fly to Kavala twice a day and they don't charge an arm and
a leg. There is another Greek carrier called Aegean airlines (aegeanair.com)
who also operate regularly to Kavala from Athens, at a cost of 67
euros each way. There are other routes to Kavala via european destinations,
but this may mean stopovers.
Second accommodation. Just about everyone who contacts this site
has a recommendation of where to stay, all over the island. Why
not get a contact address, email address or phone number and publish
it here. Then people can organise their own accommodation.
This year we're flying Thomson but we've arranged to stay at the
Souzanna studios at a very reasonable daily rate by contacting Alex
Roupelis at roupelis@spark.net.gr
A holiday on the most wonderful island in the Aegean doesn't have
to break the bank. It just requires a little planning and the internet.
Go for it."
From Peter Kerrone, Lancashire, U.K.
19 Aug 2005 - "Re; Jenny & Gary Cooper's
posting, of course no one wants Thassos to end up like Faliraki!.
But if tour operators ignore the island as they are at present,
then I can hardly imagine hordes of 18-30's rushing to the one disco
in Scala Potomias! The point is, Kosmar and Thomas Cook hardly offer
any choice of resorts and accommodation. Admittedly, Goldensun were
too cheap, and we know the results of that, but you must remember
that almost all of the apartment owners did not get paid a penny
for one (or in some cases), two seasons. How can they possibly hope
to recoup anything unless tourism improves. My wife and I have been
going for seven years, and the last week in June this year was the
quietest we've ever seen it. We booked direct, and got a superb
Hotel with B&B for 2 weeks at 40 euros a night, and booked a
Thomson flight only deal, but because we have been before, we knew
we could get ourselves onto the ferry, and jump into a taxi at the
other end. Anyone on their first visit simply would not know where
to start.
So what Julie Flaherty is trying to do, (with my support), is first
of all, get a budget airline interested, then the seasoned Thassos
devotees amongst us can at least get to the island. At present,
there is one Thomson flight a week from Manchester, (Sundays), and
one Wednesday flight through Thomas Cook, and as I said in my earlier
letter, these companies will only allocate a few flight only seats,
they really want to sell the packages. So don't worry about over
commercialisation, because that simply won't happen for years, (if
ever). What is needed is more of us to badger the airlines, I suggest
BMI Baby, and Jet2.com for starters, otherwise, you will find that
you'll be going overland to Keramoti!"
From David D, Suffolk, England
17 Aug 2005 - "I agree that we need to keep
Thassos a secret, why do we want a cheap airline to fly to Kavala,
this will only encourage more people to travel to our lovely Island.
If more more travel then it will not be the same place that we
all love.
Either pay what is on offer now, or go somewhere else like Corfu"
From Jenny & Gary Cooper, Staffs, U.K.
17 Aug 2005 - "With referance to Julie Flaherty's
comments & others. Do we realy want Thassos to become a package
holiday destination in every summer brochure, surely not ? (falaraki,Benidorm,Magaluf)Kosmar
I find are quite reasonable, I think the problem is people got used
to Golden Sun Prices (2wks for price of one)it now seems other operators
are expensive. Golden Sun gave us these prices and now look where
they are. Lets keep Thassos OUR secret paradise! work hard, save
hard for that Paradise Island we call Home.
As you will have gathered WE LOVE THASSOS and look forward to returning
in 2006 for our 3rd visit, Look for the Kosmar Brochure and see
if the prices suit.
( I have only found the brochure in Co-op Travel)"

16 Aug 2005 - "We have just returned from
Thassos,& have had a superb holiday. We stayed at Hotel Dimitris,Golden
Beach. Dimitris & his staff are very welcoming & friendly
& the hotel is clean & comfortable. Our favourite restaurant
is Finikas - a lovely atmosphere & the food is always 1st
class; their Chateau Briam is to die for!!This was our second
visit & hopefully not our last.We are already thinking about
2006!"

14 Aug 2005 - "We visited Thassos for the
8th year in succession this year and like others people in this
list of comments regard the island as our second home. We have visited
many of the Greek islands and love the country but Thassos just
has that little bit extra that pulls you back year after year. Its
worth getting transport to tour the island and do visit Theologos
in the mountains which has some fantastic views, and where you can
watch the local cobbler handmake his shoes and buy the finished
product for 25 euros, (If he has none to fit he will make them for
you). While there do visit taverna Lambiris Grill whose speciality
of the house, (stuffed souvelaki) is to die for! We usually stay
in Thassos town and our favourit Tavernas are Toxotis (Fantastic
Prawn saganaki) ,and Pygi (great Kleftico and almond cake). Carnaggio
boatyard, snack bar and bar at the very far end of the beach is
a real chill out with fantastic views, free sunbeds and great snacks
(known as Beer Plate and Ouzo plate almost like a small meze or
Tapas). I coul go on and on about this Island but there just isnt
the space, summed up its a fantastic little island with some of
the most friendly locals I have ever met, there truly is is something
here for everyone."
From Sue & Rich, Birmingham, England
11 Aug 2005 - "We are so looking forward to
our 3rd trip to Thassos, 28th August, in 5 years, this time staying
at 'Hotel Kamelia', on the front in the lovely resort of Skala Potamias.
Don't usually go back to the same Island 2 years running, but will
make an exception, as Thassos is the most relaxing & beautiful
of all Greek Islands we have so far visited, 9 to date. We have
always stayed in Skala Potamias as we belive the resort offer something
for everyone. From the gorgeous beach which is Golden Beach to the
Greek cuisine which can be sampled in the excellent tavernas and
a mix of bars to suit all tastes.
Our most favourite places to eat are: -
Krambousa - Offers a very wide selection of greek & international
fare. Very friendly staff, especially Dimitris whom makes all feel
very welcome.
Green Sea - Nice position overlooking Golden Beach, and what can
I say about the portions, VERY GENEROUS INDEED!!!
Alkyoni - Offers delicious lamb from the spit. But for those without
a carnivorous taste for things, offers a wide selcetion of good
vegetarian dishes.
All in all I don't think we've experienced a bad meal.
Our fav places for a relaxing drink are: -
Bar Thomai - Run by Vasilis and his very tall wife!
Mandogranos - If you like your cocktails with a bit more of a lively
feel, head here.
Whatever you do try to hire a car as there is so much to see on
the Island. The driving around the island is so easy and a pleasure,
unlike driving through the centre of Birmingham every day of the
week!
We hired a car last year with Europcar via our Thomson Rep for 4
days and had a great time exploring.
Top tips not to miss are: -
Panagia - Lovely traditional mountain village.
Potamia - as above.
Monastery - Worth a vist for the views alone.
Alyki - Interesting ruins and beautiful bay.
Limenas - Walk to Ampitheatre & ruins overlooking old harbour
and of course all the shops to buy your souvenirs.
Have visited most beach resorts around the Island.
This year aiming to visit Theologos & Marion Lake and all our
usuall old favourites.
One thing! Would like to visit the distillery we went to in 2000.
They produced Amelia and other liquers, but cannot remember where
it is??? Can anyone help?
Also would like to say hello to Steve & Shirley from Bromsgrove
who we have met on both previous holidays as they are very fond
of Thassos too.
Thassos will always hold a place very close to our hearts!"
From julie flaherty, leicestershire, england
11 Aug 2005 - "well i am on a one woman mission
and i have e-mailed manos about the possibility of the inclusion
of thassos in their brochure and this is the reponse i recieved:
Dear Julie
Thank you for your e-mail,
Manos have operated Thassos in the past and unfortunately as you
have found it did not prove commercially successful for the company
and therefore was dropped from the programme. I will pass your e-mail
on to our Greek Product Manager, although as far as I am aware the
Summer 2006 contracts have all been finalised.
Regards
Mark
im sure that if other people e-mailed them they would see that it
would be commercially viable for them to offer package holidays
to Thassos.
i have also e-mailed Kosmar, Libra and Portland Holidays and i am
awaiting their reply.
Please continue to e-mail nexusairways regarding flights and the
possibility of package holidays to Thassos,
kind regards
julie, i enclose my e-mail address please feel free to contact me
if anyone else has any ideas! juliefjules@aol.com"

10 Aug 2005 - "thank you peter for your support,
i do hope there are more 'thassos lovers' out there so that we can
escape from the monopoly that the likes of thomson and thomas cook
have on the island especially skala potamia. as you have probably
read in my other message i feel that we are going to get priced
out of the island and unless another operator steps in (preferably
independant) this is whats going to happen.
i am going to set up my own thassos support web page over the next
few days, i need to know how much support i will get, as i feel
we have a right to fair prices and to return to the island we all
love, and i have plenty of contacts in thassos to make sure this
will be successful and i can assure you they are behind me all the
way, so off we go!!please contact nexusairways to give them an accurate
figure, but as peter asks please be polite. thank you"
From Lynne Croudy, South Yorkshire, UK
09 Aug 2005 - "We have just returned from
our first ever Greek island holiday in Thassos. It certainly won't
be our last! We travelled with Thomson and stayed in the Hotel Galaxy
in Thassos Town. Thomson's organisation was superb - flights on
time, coach, ferry and luggage transfers all ran smoothly and professionally.
The Galaxy Hotel was very clean and very pleasant - just far enough
from the centre of town that it was peaceful and quiet, yet within
a few minutes walk.
We hired a car - very reasonable prices from Potos car rentals and
would highly recommend a visit to Alyiki. The scenery on the journey
was stunning.
We would also recommend Zodiac Steak House - we visited more than
once and made a different selection from their extensive menu on
each visit. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. For a
decent English breakfast visit Cheers Bar on the seafront between
the new and old harbours. We were made very welcome by Pete and
Jane and their breakfasts are excellent value for money."
From Peter Kerrone, Lancashire, UK
09 Aug 2005 - "I suggested some time ago,
that perhaps a budget airline should show some interest in Kavala
flights, and I see that Julie Flaherty has taken up the challenge
and conntacted Nexus Airlines. Great idea! - I have now done likewise,
and gone even further, and suggested that maybe they would be interested
in setting up package holidays?
There is little doubt that the major tour companies are fleecing
both tourists and Thassos hotels, so I suggest (with the blessing
of the webmaster), that EVERYONE bombards Nexus with enthusiastic
(and friendly) requests to set up services from Stansted and Liverpool.
I am sure that people power can convince them that it would be feasible
and profitable.
Send your e-mails to enquiries@nexusairways.com
and book next years flights in advance!!"
From julie flaherty, leicestershire, england
07 Aug 2005 - "myself and my parnter Tony
have travelled to Thassos on numerous occassions with our 4 children,
we went in May this year, and we amazed how quiet Scala Potamia
was and to quote Elka who with her husband Yannis owns the Tassos
resturant said "potamia is finished" well i hope not.
It was completely different from the prevoius May when we wnt with
Golden Sun! and yes they still have my deposit from this years holiday
- so can i please have it back!, because looking at the prices for
next year i will need it, it looks like we as a family have been
priced out of Thassos, i have looked at all ways to return next
year, independantly, but that proves quite expensive with 4 children
in tow, and the likes of Thomson and Thomas Cook for next year seem
to have bumped up their prices, so please, please would a reasonably
priced tour operator step in as we need your help to return to our
2nd home, the children are beside themselves as they have made so
many friends in Thassos especially Thoma, Elka and Yannis's little
boy who we 'adopt' for 2 weeks, we will miss Janet and Simon who
do the best English breakfasts on the island at C.J's and Stelios
ans Sarah at Coasters and not forgetting Johnny at his Kebab shop
with his sidekick we have nicknamed 'laughalot'
so please tour operators think of the larger families who love this
island, and the children who will return with their children, dont
make it a distant dream to return, or the faint hope we will win
the lottery.
i have contacted 'nexus airways' this is the airline run by a lad
in his bedroom with our plea and yes he relpied he would look into
flying in to kavala, lets hope he expands soon.

just out of the town'8next door to The Chrissa Appartments, but
this place will certainly be a top class restaurant, mussles in
tomato sauce highly reccomended if you like mussles . . . (The Locals
are already enjoying this Restraunt).
Why not visit Terry at the Harbour Lights, for a cool relaxing drink
or two, even try his breakfast.
If you like your beer Ice cold' the best bar will be the Annonymous
bar, situated in the main street, relax with an ice cold beer and
watch the Artist's at work.
Remezzo Bar right on the Old Harbour sea front is a pleasant way
to spend your evening, enjoy the stunning views looking over the
old harbour, and wath the sun set over the mountains . . . "

31 Jul 2005 - "Just returned from 2 more wonderfull
weeks in Limenas. My 10th visit in 5 years! would like to highly
recommend Taverna Aegean just down the little street which leads
from the ruins at the centre of the new town, actually between the
TWO Zoba's! we always spend several evening here with Arjan and
the owners, they have a wonderful kitchen and as for Arjan he is
so helpful and welcoming the best in town, well done to them. Thanks"

26 Jul 2005 - "Thassos is a beautiful island
with mountains covered with pinetrees and the most amazing blue
sea. This was my second visit and not my last!! Skala Potamia is
a delightful place with a great uncrowded beach and friendly tavernas.
The best taverna for wonderful Greek food, ambience, and the most
friendly staff is without a doubt the Korali. We ate there 11 times
during our fortnight's stay. Sakis and his two daughters make you
so welcome that you want to return. You will not be disappointed!"
From Jacky, kent, england
26 Jul 2005 - "Have returned from Thassos
staying in Scala Potamia, for the second time in under a year.
Love the island....don't hire a car from the U.K. because it's cheaper
there with the same cover . . . Potos are very good.
A lovely taverna with excellect food & service is the Korali,
Sakis & his daughters are friendly & helpful. My friend
& I returned there many times after trying other places. It
will be our favourite for years to come."
From Tony Saunders, Manchester, United Kingdom
26 Jul 2005 - "Stayed in Potas, 3rd - 10th
july 2005, well recomend the Boomerang Bar & Zooom, for both
eating and drinking, Erics for the Manchester United supporters
at Skala Potamia, was good for accomodation and eating. Will be
back!"

22 Jul 2005 - "we have recently returned from
Limenaria,Thassos our second visit it still a very welcoming island,we
stayed at the Thallises hotel beds were lumpy staff were excellent
which is more than be said for Maria the owner we had a party of
unsupervised school being very noisey at night and the owner refused
to do anything but we took our trade elsewhere, but we will return
but to the Hotel Agali"
From Zoe and Tony, Kent, England
21 Jul 2005 - "We've just returned from a
great holiday in Thassos. We stayed at the Nikoletta Studios in
Thassos Town. The rooms were basic (as are most studios in greece)
but very clean. The gardens surrouding the Nikoletta are so beautiful
and relaxing. The pool and bar area are also very attractive. There
is a beach only 5 mins walk away, which is small but wasnt that
busy even though we went in peak season. Our favorite taverna was
Moyses which was just before the new harbour. It was always busy
and also got seats reserved. The town has plenty of gift shops which
were aimed at tourists but was still tasteful. It is also worth
a visit to the Acropolis as they are interesting ruins and you get
great views over Thassos Town. Beware because there are lots of
steps halfway up then a rocky pathway even further, so wear comfy
shoes and take a drink. The island is well worth a visit as it is
so relaxing and pretty and not engulfed in tourism."
From Tracey, Kev and Megan Beardmore, Staffordshire,
England
14 Jul 2005 - "I know it might seem that I
have been living under a rock but I have only just learned about
Golden Sun.
Me and my family visited Thassos last July and stayed at the Souzanna
Studios. It was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The rooms
were spotless, the staff very friendly and everyone on the island
was so welcoming. We were hoping to return to the island but have
found very few companies offering holidays there.
Hopefully we will be back next summer eating at Alex's resturant
in Skala Potamia and lying on that beautiful beach.
If Alex and Natalie at the Souzanna Studios read this, we hope you
are both well and look forward to seeing you soon.
Best Wishes
Tracey, kev and Megan"
From Peter Kerrone, Lancashire, UK
11 Jul 2005 - "To endorse Kath & Gareths
comments about the demise of British tourism to the island, I drew
attention to this late last year, following the Goldensun collapse.
It quickly became obvious, that the big tour companies were gifted
with a licence to print money. The popularity of Thassos is beyond
question, as it boasts the highest percentage of return visitors
in Greece, (read this website). Obviously, they want to sell you
'the package', and will limit the number of 'flight only seats'.
They are also able to monitor the package sales against flight only
requests, and we experienced a 'hiking up' of flight prices within
a matter of days when friends booked the same dates as ourselves.
What is needed, is the likes of Libra to include Thassos in their
2006 brochure, (why did they pull out)? and Kosmar to expand their
interests beyond Thassos town, and maybe some competition will result
in more realistic costings.
The current pricing of many of the apartments, is frankly far too
expensive for some of the accommodation offered. As much as I love
the island, it's attraction is in it's quaintness, and old fashioned
hospitality, and we accepted some of the shortcomings, because it
was priced accordingly. The way the costs are going, they are approaching
the prices of the modern, fully appointed rooms that are expected
in the popular Spanish and Canarian resorts, and new visitors could
quite likely be dissappointed, especially if 'allocated on arrival'
in a remote location.
Personally, thanks to recommendations, we have enjoyed excellent
accommodation, and will continue to visit as long as it retains
it's character, but I feel that for it's tourism to recover, either
more operators have to include Thassos, or what about a budget airline
running into Kavala?? Now that could be a winner!!"
From Nicola Higgins, England
10 Jul 2005 - "Hello, I went to Thassos
skala potamia last year and Sarah and Stelios who own Coasters
bar made us very welcome (recomend it to every one) and also Sakis
at the Korali restaurant is very nice and welcoming and the food
is fantastic. We will be going back next year!"
From Sarah Long, London, UK
05 Jul 2005 - "My boyfriend, his parents and
I have just come back from spending a very relaxing two weeks in
Thassos staying in Potos. We travelled there independently and had
no need to book through a tour operator as his parents have been
there 3 times now and have booked up already for next year. Everyone
we spoke to had either been there before or several times or knew
people who had been there before. We stayed at Alex's studios run
by him and his partner Barbara and they are very clean and well-equipped
and comfortable, Alex also owns the Boomerang Bar along the beachfront
and his two sons Abe and Joe run the bar which is the best one and
loads of fun in the evenings and great cocktails! I would recommend
you to book the rooms through the Boomerang bar and they are so
friendly and accommodating and can't do enough for you. If you've
stayed with them before they will even offer to collect you from
the Ferry and on arrival they will sit you down with a glass or
two of homemade Ouzo which certainly does the trick after a long
journey! I would definitely recommend staying with them and it is
only 2 mins walk from the shops, beach, cafes and restaurants. It's
a cute island surrounded by mountains, flowers and it's very green
and everywhere is very clean. The food is excellent and good value,
I recommend eating at Irene's, Boomerang for breakfast, lunch snacks
and drinks, Poseidon, and a restaurant we have named 'Blue Chairs'
as we can't pronnounce the name, the owner and his wife are so nice.
The Zoom Bar has also been recommended too but that's a little bit
away from the beachfront. We hired a car from Smart cars for 3 days
and had fun driving round the island on the twisty clifftop roads.
We stopped off at the view points along the way to take pictures
of the stunning views and we visited some amazing beaches such as
Paradise and Golden Beach, visited a monastry, drove through a village
which had a waterfall running through it, visited Thassos town and
Theologos was very cute too. We went on a boat trip round the island
and stopped off to swim, fish and had a bbq lunch on the boat and
it wasn't too crowded. On our last day we went to Pefkari beach
and went paragliding which was great fun and you can do other watersports
there and the beach is nice too. I would thoroughly recommend going
to Potos as all the accommodation is mixed in with the local's houses
which is really nice. We will try and go back there soon, you should
definitely try it too."

04 Jul 2005 - "We have recently come back
after a glorious fortnight in Thassos, its a lovely place the
people are wonderful + you feel so relaxed there. The Pegasus
Hotel is a lovely place to stay with its quiet surroundings with
a pool + layed back atmosphere they have lovely kept rooms. It
does great food cooked by Antionette and the hotel owner Jannis
is someone to meet he's great, we like him alot. We would not
stay anywhere else its lovely. The Island bar on the town beach
+ Anonymous bar in the town are places to go all run by really
nice people. Thassos has certainly got a place in our hearts we
can't wait to go back there."

02 Jul 2005 - "We have been going to Thassos
for many years since we booked a late deal in October of one year
and had such a beautiful time we have continued to return on many
occasions always stopping at the Hotel Achillion apart from one
occasion which was due to overbooking when we stayed at the Natasha
wich was and continues to be brilliant. Our first night as always
been spent at the Steki Taverni with Katerina and her beautiful
family and out of this world menu. We usually go down too the beach
early and spend a few hours at he Taverna on the beach after a few
hours sunbathing in the dunes. At night apart from the Steki there
are many tavernas serving fantastic food and we are always spoilt
for choice although "Phillipi" and the Italian take some
beating. We will be returning to the Achillion this summer but sadly
our old friend "Jimmy" will not be there to greet us as
he sadly died recently although we look forward to a great welcome
from his wife and sons. thassos is by far the most beautiful and
friendly of the Islands and to live there would be our dream come
true."
