4th May-
Nice to see that Monica & Mick
are going again this year, see you in the fedra, this will be
our first year going independantly, we are staying at the Enavlion fot
three weeks, can't wait, although i don't quite agree that Golden
Beach hasn't changed in 20 years
Monica and Mick Northolt
30 April -This June will be our 8th time to
holiday at Golden Beach, and we look forward to it now as much
as ever.In fact we know the place so well, each time we go,we
love it more.
For us, our holiday begins the moment we leave Kavala Airport,as
the smooth transfer by coach, and then ferry to our resort is delightful.
The first thing we do on arrival is to have an ice cold beer
at Fedra, where we usually stay, and say "Hi"to Niko and
his family and all the staff.
We have been to many other places on holiday, but always come back
to Thassos where we're glad to say not much has changed in almost
20 years.
Roll on June.....

11th April 2007 - We recommend the Steki Taverna and accommodation
to everyone who loves great Greek food and friendly, quality service.
Katerina and Jorgos make you feel at home and look after you very well.
We have stayed with them twice and will do again on our next visit
to the island. The last time was a couple of years ago and we still
keep in touch with them.

kavala.

16th Jan 2007 - For Julie Flaherty, loved the story
of your trip and details of the rental accomodation. At last
Thassos is rsponding to this demand for holiday villas, houses
and apartments. We've booked for August/September, with BA flights,
half the cost of a package. First web site with rentals is now
live, check it out. www.thassos-holiday-rentals.com!
Good luck.

25 Nov 2006 - "Highly recommend everything
about thassos, took our daughter on her first overseas hoiday 2005,loved
every minute of it,everyone so friendly,best restaurant,the
one under the huge old tree just next to the square, cant recall
its name just wonderful food superb atmosphere,oh to live in thassos."

07 Nov 2006 - "We were totally thrilled
with our visit to the island of Thassos in October of this year.
what a place. We stayed at the Galaxy hotel in Thassos town and
the owners Yanni and Poppy were very friendly and made us feel
at home. Our Thomson rep Lizzy was very helpful and friendly too.
We hired a car and drove around the island which i highly recommend.
Our favorite beaches were Paradise and Tripiti. Our favorate place
to relax in the day was Karnagio a cafe right at the end of the
town, passed the old harbour. Our favorate bar was Central bar
in town and by far our favorite place to eat was Thassian restaurant
in the centre of town. the owners katrin and Rigis were so friendly
and the food was delicious every time. We also liked Zodiac and
Syrtakis but did not think much of Twins or Doukas.
All in all an amazing place to go. we will be back!!!!!"
From Mick Benson, Kent,
England
05 Nov 2006 - "Now the winter is upon us
it is to reflect on the good days of summer, sunning yourself on
the beaches of THASSOS. What better way to while away the evenings
with a good meal and a few drinks in a good friendly bar, Wanda & Paul
at the RUMOURS Caf'e Bar was a good way to unwind after a very
lazy day, lazing on the beach, lovely coktails, friendly holiday
makers and most of all EXELLENT Host's, Wanda & Paul really
gets you into a fun evening with one of their funny Quiz nights,
these are well worth taking part in (thanks both) a great bar to
relax in 10 out of 10.
Kanagio beach was also well worth a mention, as their has been
a luxury hand built boat taking shape over the last couple of years
(very interesting) the Kanagio bar is also worth a visit day or
night, free sun beds and brollies during the day.
There has been some changes to the town, mainly at the new port,
but at present nothing has seemed to have spoilt the area. (lets
hope it stays that way).
All in all Thassos is still the place for a great relaxed holiday.
Cant wait for next summer and our 8th visit, to revisit all our
friends on the Island, (especially Wanda & Paul).
Thankyou Thassos for welcoming us to your Island . . . "

05 Oct 2006 - "Have lost count of the number
of times we have stayed on Thassos. Always Skala Potamia or Golden
Beach (once at Skala Rahoni). Pretty much covered all of the island
including the summit of Ypsario - favourite places, Aliki and Paradisos
(after Skala Potamia and Golden Beach of course). Beautifull Island
- we will be back!
Our favourite eating places: Akrogiali - superb food, hospitality
second to non, we love the hard working Manoli and his son Kostas
whom we have seen grow with the business. We remember Manoli from
his days at the Korali, brilliant that he now has is own well established
business which appears to be thriving. Also Magic Coast - Maria
I think will be married now. A lovely family and always a pleasure
to return and although they must see hundreds of tourists always
a warm welcome on our return.
Our favourite "watering hole". Ramezos, the old harbour
- Thassos town. Best beers on the island and what a place to sit
and watch the World go by. Until next time - Yammas!"
From David, Suffolk, UK 27 Oct 2006 - "Now the winter has arrived
I start the countdown to the next visit, this will probably be
the 11th or 12th time but this will be the first time we have travelled
independantly, The flights are booked to Thessaloniki with BA and
the accommodation has been booked with Niko, his new hotel on gloden
beach, the Enavlion is fantastic, we will probably book the car
for the transfer with Potos, I assume that other people from this
forum would have done this before and I assume that they just meet
you at the airport, any advise on our travel arrangements would
be greatly appreciated. I cannot wait for the adventure to start
and a lovely three weeks in Golden Beach."

05 Oct 2006 - "We visited Thasos in September
2006 and stayed at the hotel Illio Mare in Skala Prinou. It was
THE BEST! The people, are so warm and friendly we can't praise
them enough.(especially Mimoza and her brother Theo, also the wonderful
lady who looked after our room).
This was our first visit to Thasos and, indeed, any Greek Island
so we only booked a week but we will know better next time. We
hired a car and toured this beautiful Island, it really is a little
piece of heaven. The scenery, the sunsets, the sea, the mountains,
the beaches - it has it all."
From Janet Samuels, LONDON,
ENGLAND 02 Oct 2006 - "We have just returned from
7 days in Thassos. Thursday being our last day was spent in Alyki
south of the Island with the prettiest beach. It was pouring with
rain most of the day but this did not dent our enjoyment of the
whole experience sheltering from heavy rain in a beach restaurant
called 'Restaurant Alice' where we had a tasty meal then as the
rain subsided visiting the ancient ruins and walking along the
mountain side overlooking exquisite views of the sea and of a marble
church ruin - magical!"
From sandra jefferson, lancashire,
england
27 Sept 2006 - "one of our best holiday
destinations is POTOS.
we love the relaxed pace there.
our favourite restaurant is ZOOOM on the main road.
excellent food and wine.
our favourite place through the day is CAFE BAR ANONYM.sat on the
promenade drinking eating and reading our books-peaceful.
george and theo are the best.
gordon and sandra x
see you in 2007"
From Clint,
England 25 Sept 2006 - "Stayed on Thassos for 2
weeks during September 06, can't say I thought much of Thassos
Island itself, but the people and the food certainly made up for
it, especially the Ta Pefka tavern (Hello Elvis), where we were
made to feel at home every time we went, I highly recommend it,
and the food is superb as well!
For a really romantic Tavern/restaurant nothing beats Vigli at
the top of Golden Beach, with its stunning view."
From Pauline Hanney, Gloucestershire,
England 19 Sept 2006 - "For any one that is interested-we've
just got back from Thassos having stayed in the Anastasia apartments.
When we booked I couldnt find anything on these particular apartments
so only had verbal recommendation. The apts were at Golden Beach
and were simple and clean clean, typically Greek and we would recommend
them to any one who is thinking of booking. Also we ended up eating
most of the time in Finikas at night - very reasonable and good
service. Stephanos next door did a good toastie at lunch time and
the homemade walnut pie and icecream was to die for."
From jane, shropshire,
england 19 Sept 2006 - "hi pauline sorry we could
not make it back I could not get time from work we will see you
in may or june 07 we are so disapointed I dream of the big beans
I have tried to make them but have to say magic coast make the
best good luck and best wishes for your wedding my kind regards
to you and every in thassos"
From Gina and Pete, Berkshire,
England
18 Sept 2006 - "If like us, you fancy a
good english breakfast while on holiday, try CHEERS, which you will
find soon after the taxi rank on the town side of the road, heading
towards the old harbour.Peter and his wife (sorry can't remember
your name) will always make you feel welcome. Their breakfasts
are superbly cooked, (not swimming in grease) priced very cheaply,
the breakfasts are really filling, and come piping hot! I believe
you can have your cooked "breakfast" in the evening too,
but I'm not certain. Their range of beverages are extensive and
also NOT expensive."
From Mike & Jane (Slawit
), West Yorkshire, UK 13 Sept 2006 - "We have enjoyed five consecutive
holidays in Thassos since 2001, all the previous trips have been
in June. This year we are going back for a 2nd holiday next week.
I wonder does anyone know if Yannis at Tasos's in Skala Potamia
has opened up?? When we visited in June his premises were still
closed up. I hope so as he is the most generous and hospitable
of hosts.
Must also mention Anne and Ian at the Aegean Bar and Dave and Nita
at the Ena bar in Golden Beach, both of who are extremely welcoming.
Looking forward to being there :)"
From Gerry, South Yorks, UK 12 Sept 2006 - "There is a new bar this
summer in Limenas called "Bacarrat! It is next door to Moyses
taverna and is really nice. It is run by George & Themis who
are sons of the owner of Toxotis Taverna. Enjoyed a pre siesta
frappe there, a pre dinner ouzo at sunset & many evenings with
a glass of wine or a cocktail. Toxotis is also still my favourite
taverna."
From Ken Morris, Essex,
UK
10 Sept 2006 - "Just back today after excellent
week in the Korina at Scala Potamia. Very Good Hotel.
Big news is that he wreck has gone from Golden Beach. The remaining
half was there tuesday afternoon but by wednesday lunchtime had
been taken over to the cliffs most of the way toward the northern
headland and therefore could hardly be seen.
Great place"
From Brianne Press & Brian

08 Sept 2006 - "One of the most enjoyable
times of our trip was our last night in Skala Potamias when we
decided the have a pint at CJ's. No one besides the owners were
in the restaurant We enjoyed wonderful converation and good beer
with the owners. We also enjoyed breakfast there the morning
before. Wonderful owners and great food!"
From Josie Jones, West Midlands,
England 06 Sept 2006 - "Just got back from 2 weeks
in Thassos stayed at the Hotel kamelia Scala Potatmia very nice
place. This was our 3rd visit. Favourite place to vist Aliki. Favourite
place to eat the Akogryalis run by Manolas his father and his son.
The Mussels Saganaki is to die for. Fedra in Golden beach is also
very good try the Crepes with Aubergine. Worst meal Green Sea,
my meal was cold another meal was overcooked (kleftico)but having
said that had been in on a previous lunch time and had very good
food so perhaps the Chef was off sick the night we visited. The
tanker was still in the bay when we left 3rd September. Could someone
let us know when it was eventualy towed away please?"
From Dave & Gill, Norfolk,
England
04 Sept 2006 - "Posidanas Restaurant run
by Vasilli on the outskirts of Thassos Town heading toward Nisteri
beach is fantastic . . . . the best food we tasted on Thassos!"
