| The picture on the right is of the ATM in Scala
Potamias - technology has reached the village, and you can now use
your plastic to get cash.
This auto-bank adds to the other similar facilities we already
knew about in Limenaria, Prinos, and Potos, as well of course as
Thassos Town.
Acceptance of credit cards is also gradually changing, but still
only slowly - credit cards are taken by the main shops in Thassos
Town, and in the jewellery outlets in particular in other towns
on the island - as well of course as by the car hire outlets.
A slowly growing number of tavernas will now take credit cards,
but most would still rather not - their margins are fairly tight
anyway without the added cost of credit card processing. |
|
| There can be little argument that, since the introduction
of the Euro, holidays to Greece are now more expensive than they
used to be - and Thassos is no exception to this.
This is not meant in any way as a political observation - merely
a statement of fact.
