We have just returned from yet another fantastic holiday on Thassos, we stayed in Golden Beach at the Hotel Fedra.

We have been coming to this Island since 1987 and this was our 8th visit, there has been quite a few changes since our first visit but it is still a wonderfull Island and we would not consider going to a different one.
The Fedra is a great place to stay and eat, you are looked after by a very friendly family and Nikos, Panos and their staff cannot do enough for you. We had read prior to going that it had changed hands and it was not as good as before and was expensive, this is not the case.

There are a few more bars around which do not seem to get much business but our favourite as it has been for many years is the Hotel George, Stavros never changes and makes a lot of peoples holidays who return year after year.

The Beach at this resort is as the name says "Golden" it is clean and we even witnessed the mechanical cleaner sweeping the sand one morning, tourists do unfortunately leave litter around but this is cleared daily and the bins provided are emptied.

If you want to tour the Island it is by far easier and cheaper to do this on your own rather than pay a holiday company for the privilege. Hiring a car is easy as there are two or three companies offering this but Potos is the cheapest and the one we would recommend.

There is only one downside to Golden Beach, there is a new bar opened called the Calypso Club which is only a short distance from the centre, this type of bar does not belong in a resort like this, the music is very loud and if dining in nearby tavernas it can be heard, we are not boring old farts but we do like to talk and listen to the greek music that the taverna is playing, Thomsons hold their welcome meeting there which gives a very bad example of the resort, in my opinion Thomsons should not do this as they are promoting the bar. If we wished to be subjected to this type of music we would go to Kavos not Thassos. It certainly put us off dining at some of the Tavernas near by even though the food is excellent.

We do not wish in any way to put you off this lovely Island but we would like to keep for ourselves, so if you do visit and have a great time as we have had over the years please do not tell everyone.

Overall another excellent holiday on Thassos.
