Feedback message from Alison & Paul Kearin, Bristol, England

Taken this long to get back to normal mode after a wonderful week (4-11 Sept) in Skala Potomia! Went fully prepared for mossies & wasps but had no probs. Arrived at Hepih Studios very warily after reading bad report BUT IT WAS EXCELLENT!

Yes Donna was a little abrupt on arrival but trying to book in so many people at 9pm -wouldn't you be? The only real problem was Goldensun hadn't warned people before arrival that passports would be taken on arrival (didn't have time to read leaflet in room)which caused a row with one couple. We Decided to greet Donna, Anna & Sam (Ross look alike!) cheerily next morning and they couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. I think it is a case of your own attitude!

The apartment was beautiful, clean and with a view of the beach. It even had an electric kettle which we weren't expecting. The room, towels & bedding were cleaned/changed 3 times in our week. Only drawback was Donna would only allow 3 pillows so I had to fold up a! towel to raise my pillow up. The mini market attached to Hepih was so useful (and cheaper than buying in the village) - only problem was that as it was open 7am to midnight and we were overlooking it, the family gatherings which could get quite raucous were a little disturbing but a little ouzo or mataxa solved that.

Skala Pot was everything we hoped it would be - quiet, uncommercialised, friendly and the perfect place to relax (especially Paul who was recovering from 3 broken ribs). Lovely walks along the beach either early morning or evenings for a meal. Lisvos was a favourite but the Green Sea was fantastic - eating there at midnight on our last evening was a bonus due to the heavy thunderstorm which prevented going out earlier. The father at Green Sea made friends with Paul earlier in the week and treated us to some of his special homebrew (67%) - WOW - not for the faint hearted!. The 4 kittens provided entertainment while we waited for our meal. Definitely needed the torch that night to get home to avoid the frogs as our vision was more than a little blurred!

Took 2 trips - Theologis by night ( good evening but wasted a lot of time doing pickups when we were only 20 minutes away - took us 2 hours before we actually got there)and Lazy Days Cruise - weather not very good but spent a lovely day relaxing and the bbq onboard was very good. Couple of very overcast and windy days but had taken a portable beachshelter which came in very handy so were still able to go to the beach and swim.

I found Skala Pot beach perfect as I don't like deep water - the water was warm and very clear apart from a couple of days when there was a lot of seaweed but the other days there were tiny fish swimming around you as you walked out in the shallow water.

We would definitely recommend the area to all age groups who don't want to party all night. Plenty of bars, tavernas and restaurants and a disco for those who want it. It was the perfect introduction to Greece for me and would happily go back tomorrow! Anyone going to the Hepih Studios say hello to Donna and family from us - Alison & Paul (Fatboy as Donna called him because he always wanted bacon & eggs for breakfast) - we found them lovely hosts and I got a hug and kiss goodbye from Donna.

If you want to see the real Greece and get to meet the people Thassos is certainly the perfect place and would recommend Skala Potamia highly.
